Amex Travel Question...

Postby nismoZtuner » Tue Jun 02, 2015 12:16 pm

-I have yet to call Amex, just need suggestions...

So I booked a trip for Hawaii back in March 20th for June 12 to the 21st using Amex travel- but now my friend who was going to go with me she had some issues at work where her boss had a car accident last week. She asked for a small break at the time of booking our trip which she was able to get, but now since her boss cant show up to work for a while she was asked if she could take less days while her boss gets better.

Yesterday she asked me if we can modify the reservation since I was the one who booked it. Not sure if its even worth modifying it for less days or just cancel the entire trip... If I was to change dates right now i`m assuming i would be paying more for less days since hotel and flights did increase a bit..

---I did not buy their flight insurance---

If I was to cancel the trip does anyone have an idea of what I would be looking at as "cancellation fee"?

Is there a better option for this issue?

OP, a lot of times when you book a trip thru amextravel.com the reservation is non-refundable- thats how they can keep their prices competitive. So first i would make sure if it is refundable.
If it is, then I dont think you should have that much problem changing it.

I booked my honeymoon for last 2 wks of June thru amextravel to get the 2x pts. Turns out i could take a promotional exam for work during that time but when i tried to change tix, service rep said i probably cant change it since my hotel reservations were nonrefundable. So i said screw the promotional exam since i already put so much down for honeymoon including flight and hotel. Good luck, keep us posted.

Thanks for the reply, After work I got a hold of Amex Travel and what they told me is that I was able to change dates but that I will have to pay the difference if there is a price change.. to me that sounds like i`m basically re booking my trip all over again (NOT worth it).

My other option was if I canceled my trip..
1. Hotel will be refunded (no fee)
2. flight is NON nonrefundable
-BUT I will have an airline credit for 1 year (cant change passengers though)
3. pay $48
