Amex CL reallocation?

Postby CarefulBuilder14 » Sat May 30, 2015 1:21 pm

Are there any well-established rules about reallocating CLs from one Amex-issued card to another?

I have $6k on BCE and $4.5k on EDP. I'm thinking $2k on BCE and $8.5k on EDP might be more useful. Both cards are in my name only with no AUs.

I don't see myself ever really using BCE, but I figure I'll keep it open:

1. In case MRs get heavily nerfed - as in losing a few transfer partners
2. For the account history
3. As a backup card in SD if I lose my wallet (which has PRG and EDP)
4. For good offers that might appear now and then

When I tried to reallocate the limits earlier, I was told I would have to wait 60 days. Beyond that, is there anything else I should know?
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

From what I have heard, you must wait 60 days after the receiving card was opened and 13 months after the donor card was opened. This can vary though so try at 60 days and see what they say.

This also has a chance to screw with the 3x cli though. I would try that at 61 days first.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k
