Are these rewards in addition to regular rewards (as in cash back, MRs, whatever blue sky has, etc.)? Or this program replaces a regular rewards system?

There are two versions of the "plenti card."
First is a standard loyalty card. You get points fro purchases and bonuses for special things. Like At&t is giving 5,000 points when you upgrade to a smartphone.

The other card to come out at a later date is a co-branded Amex. The card offers 1pp$ towards your plenti account. AFAIK plenti points are not worth close to 1 point per cent. SO you get no advantage over using a straight 1% card with the plenti loyalty card.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

Just a half-assed attempt by Amex to remain relevant to Generations Y and Z. Have you seen the card's design? It looks like it's being marketed to middle school girls.

Uh, I'm Gen Y (Millenials - Born after 1980) and it has no flipping appeal to me what so ever. Gen Zers I would buy possibly.

Definitely Fugly

The Amex website says you can convert 500 MRs into 400 Plenti points.

Amazon...Uber....McDonald's...Pay with Points...now Plenti.

Amex is really pushing exciting, convenient new ways for people to flush MRs down the toilet.

To be perfectly honest, it doesn't offer enough value to make it worth applying for without backdating. If I could get it backdated I might do it, but without that, it's kind of pointless really.

I think that's another way Amex cutting back on perks will hurt them.

The card has to have some attraction to make it worth applying for. I'm just not personally seeing it with this card. If I was a 10 year old kid I might think the design was cool though.

+1. Without backdating nothing Amex has appeals to me(unless they bring back the unicorn!) The card doesn't look like a credit card Centurion bank would issue. Looks like an Amex gift card or some sort of pre-paid card. American Express has definitely jumped the shark it seems... pretty soon, they might be begging Maddawg to come back. Ok, probably not, but Amex's latest new offerings are boring and lackluster. Maybe in addition to sharing the same founders as Wells Fargo, they are sharing the same new product development people as WF.
