I think that's another way Amex cutting back on perks will hurt them.

The card has to have some attraction to make it worth applying for. I'm just not personally seeing it with this card. If I was a 10 year old kid I might think the design was cool though.

+1. Without backdating nothing Amex has appeals to me(unless they bring back the unicorn!) The card doesn't look like a credit card Centurion bank would issue. Looks like an Amex gift card or some sort of pre-paid card. American Express has definitely jumped the shark it seems... pretty soon, they might be begging Maddawg to come back. Ok, probably not, but Amex's latest new offerings are boring and lackluster. Maybe in addition to sharing the same founders as Wells Fargo, they are sharing the same new product development people as WF.

Someone on MyFICO got approved for it....at 24.99% APR.

Looks like the race to the bottom has just accelerated..

I don't know how strict the underwriting criteria are, but to me this makes most sense as an entry-level card to get your foot in the door with Amex. Plenti points don't seem to be too valuable (if you don't use a Macy's credit card, Macy's gives you 1 point per $10 spent). The introductory bonus requires only $250 in spending, so it would just seem like the most logical way to position the card. I would think 1% cash back would be more valuable than using the Plenti card to earn Plenti points.

The partners aren't too appealing to me, at least at this stage. Just nowhere I spend a ton, personally. If I used AT&T I would sign up just to build up points, but the Plenti card still isn't looking too attractive.

Otter I would be interested in the unicorn as well if they brought it back. I kind of wish I'd have kept the one I had. It doesn't seem like they are ever going to do that though. And even if they did it wouldn't backdate now.

I really need to call tonight and downgrade my Platinum before the annual fee hits. If I ever travel again, it would be worth upgrading to but until then it's just kind of a waste for me personally. Great card, but just different than what I really need today.

Looks like Plenti is growing even since I got my paperwork for the shopper's card. Hulu is now listed on the website as well as National and Alamo.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

If I had seen the card's artwork and name outside of a credit context, my first guess would have been that Hershey's was trying to rebrand Good & Plenty to boost candy sales among teens,
Love: IHG, Platinum, Sallie Mae, AA Plat, CSP
Like: Discover, ED, BCE, Hyatt, Arrival, Freedom
Might drop: BrooksBros, Prestige (Costco PC?)
Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

It won't last any longer than a glacier in the tropics. 09 is already itching to lay down the ban hammer with no possibility of parole for life.
