Not exactly the same. Amex used to have three tiers of Roadside Assistance. Now I think they have two. They nerfed the Green, Gold, and most other cards. Green used to have the middle tier, and Gold the top. They made the cuts a few months ago.
PRG, Platinum, and some high-AF co-branded cards survived and kept the top-tier service, which is probably comparable to AAA. What the lower-tier cards have is, I think, pretty useless in that regard. That's part of why I think Green and regular Gold are a joke.
The upper tier will help you get a tow truck and will pay for basic towing and other services. The lower tier will just have a tow truck come and coordinate basic services, but you have to pay for all services.
The only free thing in the lower tier is your call to Amex.https://www.americanexpress.com/us/content/card-benefits/roadside-assistance-terms.html?intlink=US:Amex:NewSiteSearch:RecomLink1
