So i applied for this card over the phone yesterday at the advice of my car dealer. No special promo codes. No special deals. Just told the rep i want the card. now even 2 minutes after I hang up I get an e-mail saying a decision has been made. I go on the status page and it says that the application has been declined on the grounds that the promotion has expired.
but it hasn't... it's still on their website here: https://www262.americanexpress.com/apply-card/personal-card/012/16580
to add insult to injury, i tried calling up the application/new account departments and all I get is a message saying that the computers needed to answer my questions are down for the support reps. and then the phone just cuts off...
anyone had something like this happen? do you guys think they did a credit pull? i couldn't get anyone on the phone yesterday or today.
