60 Day 3X CLI

Postby hammerandnails1859 » Wed Dec 31, 2014 1:30 pm

Well, I'm coming up on the first 60 days with AmEx and was wondering what my chances of getting a true 3X increase will be? My starting CL was/is 7k. I've put approx. 2,500 on it the last two months, paying it off at each statement close and currently have a zero balance on it as well. My Fico scores are in the mid 750's across the board right now. Is a bump from 7k to 21k realistic? I'm going to request it Monday and see.

It will also depend on your income and other financial obligations. You can always request to $21K and they may counter. YMMV but most report a positive outcome with the 3X increase.

Also, wait for the 61st day instead of 60. Let us know what happens.

Income is good (could always be better though, lol) and all other cc's are well below 10% of CL.

You should have a pretty good chance then. A lot of people I keep hearing about on the other credit card forums have been able to get 3x CLIs even sooner than 61 days now, so I'd try it now if you want. Some have speculated that it's because of the holidays and others have been saying that it could be a new permanent thing with Amex that you can request that kind of CLI after 31 days now.

Today is actually day 60 but I thought I'd wait a day or so... didn't want them to think I as anxious or anything! lol
I've got two cards with limits in the high teens now but hoping to have one in the 20k range. If not this time, will just keep striving for it!

There are a lot of factors involved in the decision and we can't tell you based on your OP. What you've posted sounds good but that isn't a guarantee of 3x. The only way to find out for certain is to make the request and see. If you qualify for less you'll receive a counteroffer. Worst case, if denied it's based on an SP and you can try again in 90 days and use the reason(s) for denial as a starting point on what to work on.
