The only way to find out for certain is to make the request and see. If you qualify for less you'll receive a counteroffer. Worst case, if denied it's based on an SP and you can try again in 90 days and use the reason(s) for denial as a starting point on what to work on.

Thanks… lol
You pretty much told me what I posted in my "OP". I understand all the factors, unless you were AmEx yourself you couldn't tell me for sure anyways, but I was inquiring if anyone with any experience in a similar situation might or might not of been approved.

This should be interesting if you get the increase. I am at 20 months with AMEX, and was waiting to ask for a bump within the next few months. Hope you post back the results.

I'll post back for sure, with or without good news. Either way it's great info for the rest of us.
If you don't mind me asking, why have you waited almost two years to request a CLI? Surprised you haven't received an automatic one.

AMEX BCE started as my highest CL, but Citi has trumped them over the past year with generous CLI's.

I've twice tried for a CLI with AMEX and was denied both times with no counter-offers. The first time I asked for $15K, the second time for $11K.

The first one I received a letter in the mail. The second decline was an instant decision through the website, which generated the letter.

The first time, they said I left too much balance on the card (I took advantage of their 15 month 0% APR intro offer). The second time, they said my debt-to-income ratio was too large (I'm in grad school), and that they had no income verification on record.

I may challenge the previous decision (less than 60 days ago) and simply as for a $1500 bump up to $7000. I get the feeling I asked for too much.
Merrick Bank (Hooters) 4100
Cap One Quicksilver 2800
Discover it 2500
Citi Forward 5400
Chase Freedom 1000
AMEX Blue Cash Everyday 5500
Citi Dividend 5600
Cap One Visa Platinum 750 (CLOSED)

I doubt it. I'm pretty sure that amex's system just gives you the maximum of what you asked for, or what they would be willing to extend. If the maximum amount they're willing to extend to you is what you already have, then you get nothing. Amex have some income and DTI rules (there was a post somewhere where the poster had grabbed the data reported in forum threads about income and limits, and worked some out that fit the data pretty well. There are some outliers, which suggested he didn't have the factors (or that forum posters were lying...). I've not been able to find it again!)

Well, couldn't wait till Monday... so I requested a 3X CLI online. Within 5 seconds BOOM! From 7k to 21k! Said available for use within 15 minutes. Very excited!
Hope everyone else has the luck that I had with the 3X CLI.

I had app'd and been approved for Amex TE card on 11/4 @ a 7k CL. I put roughly the same through the card in the 2 months as you and had also PIF both cycles. I pulled the trigger on the 3X CLI about day 55 and requested my limit be moved to 20k. Instant approval... should have gone for 21k ah well. No paperwork or recon required.

Hope the info helps.

That's great to hear. That's just more evidence to me that people can now get CLIs with Amex well before the 61 day mark with some people getting them as early as 31 days.

It was quick and simple online. Took just a few seconds and I had a 3x CLI. I was stoked.
