That's funny, your relationships with those two is the complete opposite of mine. Amex loves me, and chase bends me over the table and violates my manhood with a hot poker every chance they get.

That's funny.

Yeah, Chase has given me over $30,000 in credit, which is borderline magical. AmEx won't let my revolver go over $2,000 but will approve me for a Plat (still have the Green card). If they aren't giving me the 40,000 bonus points I'm gonna cancel it instead of activating it.

Please be sure to double-check your welcome offer via customer service, @MB131174 - there is typically a spend requirement as indicated during the application process to get the bonus points on the Platinum Card. Hard to achieve if you don't first activate your card!

Have you been with Amex for a long period of time? I'm finding that strange that they would be so stingy with you.

I was worried about not getting it since I already have a charge card with them and the whole "if we identify you as a current American Express customer blah blah blah...." phrase. Well, I got my card today and activated it and used it. First transaction was at Tractor Supply for a 25 pound bag of cat food. Then I used it at Walmart for some miscellaneous stuff. Then stopped at Sheetz to get an MTO sub for dinner. #exotic

Well, I got home tonight and called plat cust svc and the nice and very helpful lady confirmed a promo of 40,000 points with $3,000 spend in 3 months is indeed attached to the card. She reviewed a few benefits with me and even offered to enroll me in the Priority Pass without me asking. She had a slightly heavy accent, but her English was good and didn't seem to be script reading, so overall I'd give her an A for her service. I'm anxious to see how I feel about this card after my first year. I plan on buying some airline gift cards this week. I figure, that's something I will ALWAYS spend money on (air tickets) so really the card is only $250 a year for me. Granted, Global Entry will pay back $100, but that's only every 5 years. Basically the first year the card costs me $150 and after that $250 a year. Really, for $250 and all the benefits you get makes it a good bargin. At least to me, for now.

What's your annual income, that seems to be one of the biggest factor for Amex?
Everyday Preferred $45K | Amex Platinum NPSL | Delta Platinum $30K | Chase Sapphire Reserve $74.5K | Discover IT $42K
