What is the minimum AAoA for a charge card?

Postby NewGuy1993 » Mon Dec 15, 2014 11:32 am

Hello All,

I recently posted a thread about the chances of a green card and everyone was very helpful and i want to thank you.

What is the lowest credit history you have seen or been approved for a charge card issued by amex?

I paid my first car and credit card payment on the first week of September 2014

I need a amex charge card!

I think I've seen a few months. However, it's never just about one factor such as AAoA.

Why? What benefit or perceived benefit would you get?

Yes, some of us have AMEX charge cards. They served a purpose for many of us, but they were a WANT, not a NEED.
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!
EQ = 846 EX=828 TU = 836 as of 02/2016

I think the length of credit history and length of history with credit cards matter more than the AAoA.

My credit history (which consists only of credit cards) was about 6.5 months when I got a PRG invitation and applied, but my AAoA was only about 4 months since I'd also gotten a Discover recently.

A charge card can be nice. I had a lot of expenses relative to my old credit limits, so having to make a lot of mini-payments and having high utilization report, anyway, was a bit of a nuisance.

I do think the Green and Gold have very little value, though. PRG and Platinum can be good if you spend and travel enough.
Love: IHG, Platinum, Sallie Mae, AA Plat, CSP
Like: Discover, ED, BCE, Hyatt, Arrival, Freedom
Might drop: BrooksBros, Prestige (Costco PC?)
Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when
