You probably won't even have to pay up front. In my case they were very quick processing my status and I never even saw the annual fee.

I actually called after I had separated and they retroactively credited me for three years of AFs and interest charges. With my Platinum and BCP it was somewhere to the tune of $1600. This was just a few months ago.
Sapphire Reserve: travel & dining (almost everything until I meet my initial spend)
Blue Cash Preferred: groceries & gas
Freedom: 5% cats
Double Cash: everything else
