Someone else mentioned looking at the reasons for denial. Take a look and determine if those reasons will be addressed by the time you're considering applying for it.

A score from TU probably isn't a FICO. Are the 6 inquiries on TU? Does AmEx pull TU in your area according to the Credit Pulls database?

I called AmEx to get my reason for denial and they said they could not locate my credit file from Experian. Is that standard since my file has not aged six months? Is there anything i can do to recon?

It may or may not be normal.

They should be able to locate your file even if you don't have enough history, as long as there are tradelines reported.

However, it is possible at the time you applied no tradelines were reported to Experian yet. In this case it could be possible that when they attempted to pull your Experian file they don't see any credit accounts. Sometimes a new account could take several days or even a few months to get shown up on the report.

Probably not. AMEX is not known for successful recons, for folks with thicker files, much less with folks with thin files. Time is your ally.

I just requested a credit line increase for my Cap One card. Would this build my case to get approved for a Amex in the upcoming couple months?

I should know in 2-3 business days... I hate the service Cap One provides... its near impossible to get a hold of a CSR.

After my sixth statement generated, I was able to get a $1000 CLI without doing any kind of request myself. You've had the card for 4 months so just be patient and using the card wisely.

Would it hurt to try and pre-qualify?
