CLI success

Postby DeeJay8385 » Wed Nov 19, 2014 11:25 am

Today is my 6 month mark since my last CL and decided to do the 3x CLI and it was successful. My new CLI is $6,600. I'm excited to do my 3x CLI($19,800) in May 2015. Hopefully it'll be successful just like my last two CLI

That's great! Just be careful and make sure you have the income to back up your CLI request. My initial CL was $6,600 (just like yours now! I guess they like that # xD). After 6 months, I decided to go for the same thing, $19,800. After talking to a customer service rep, she passed my request on to an analyst. He was a lot more stern and ultimately denied my request because of my income (~$25,000 .. I'm a student and have a part time job); he countered with a $200 increase, which I turned down. I was terrified I would get a FR because I study and work overseas. I also have charge cards and other credit cards.

Basically, before applying for it, try to lower the balances on your other accounts or even pay them off before requesting (if you have any). Also, make sure it isn't ridiculously close to your income. Looking back, although I had the credit score, it was silly of me to even ask for the limit given my income.
Capital One Journey Student Rewards: $750 CL
AmEx ZYNC: NPSL
AmEx Blue Cash Everday: $6,600 CL
AmEx PRG: NPSL
Chase Slate: $900 CL
Chase Sapphire Preferred: $5,000 CL
Synchrony FInancial: $1,700 CL

Great job! Yeah like everyone else saying, be realistic about what you ask for when making CLIs. The last thing you want is for your accounts to be closed. If I do get another opportunity to do a CLI, I'm probably only gonna ask for a few thousand more and leave it at that.

AmEx will counteroffer if one qualifies for a lower CLI. They don't close accounts due to CLI requests. That sounds like something you might read on myFICO. A CLI request may lead to income verification but that's not the same thing as an FR.

Does not matter. Method of requesting does not change one's credit or income. Use whichever you prefer.

I would think it matters who you spoke to. At least, that's why I originally asked. OP could have had the account manually reviewed by a credit analyst to get the CLI or even EO. A machine and person could easily have different outcomes.

That was reason for asking also. I was def thinking about when I ask for my 3xCLI and the best way to go about it.

I've called once. They just filled out the form and clicked submit, instead of me. Same computer did the answering, at least according to the person on the phone.
