AmEx Platinum $200 airline fee reimbursement: Good for rebook fees?

Postby dmcmillen » Sun Nov 16, 2014 6:42 am

I currently have a Gold card but have been considering upgrading to Platinum. In the near future I will find myself in the situation of having to rebook two separate AAdvantage award tickets at a total fee cost of $350. Does anyone know if this fee is included in the $200 airline fee reimbursement benefit for American Airlines? It would be the extra push I need to upgrade to Platinum.

Also, does the $200 reimbursement benefit renew on the calendar year or card anniversary?

Thanks!

It most likely would be covered. I've had award booking fees reimbursed and they are still considered airfare so I would expect rebooking to be also. Make sure to select the airline before you make the charge. Now is the time to apply for the platinum as you can use the $200 before December 31 and it'll reset on January 1 next year. Basically $400 credit with one annual fee.

American Express TrueEarnings Card from Costco

Chase Sapphire Preferred World MasterCard
