Approved for American Express HHONORs -- questions about AmEx

Postby Jarrodpd » Fri Oct 03, 2014 12:59 pm

First time user and poster here, I already have two Mastercards one secured and one non secured both through USAA. Over the past few weeks I felt that I needed to broaden my portfolio of cards, one of the things I wanted was some sort of travel benefits so in the future I will be set to go. So with that in mind last night I went on to the American Express website after contacting them by phone to get some questions answered, and signed up for the HHONORS card with no AF.

Being that I'm new to AMEX, I have a few questions.

On the phone I asked if the card was chipped and the representative said it would come with a strip but then I could switch it out for one with a chip. Upon looking on the account it shows a card up top with a chip on it so I'm confused as to whether or not it will have one once it arrives.

Which leads in to the next question, I have looked around the internet and seen shipping dates vary from 2 days up to a staggering 3 weeks. I was wondering what the possible delivery time might be.

Also where can I find the full number? So far I only know the last 7 digits.

And my final question can the APR rate be different than the three options that are listed in the terms?
[size=80]USAA Secured Mastercard: $600 @9.9% APR
USAA Platinum Mastercard: $1500 @12.9% APR CLIed to $2500
American Express HHonors no AF: $2900 @17.24% APR CLIed to $8700
American Express Premier Rewards Gold: NPSL
American Express Platinum: NPSL

The tread title is deceiving. For a second I though AMEX rolled out a brand new Hilton card.

Sorry, didn't realize the title could be interpreted differently.

Could a MOD possibly change the title to Approved for new American Express HHONORs card.

I figured out my APR %, it is 17.24%. It seems high considering my unsecured USAA Mastercard has a 12.9% APR. Does Amex lower this over time?
