Centurion Lounge Vegas Review

Postby jlam572 » Tue Sep 23, 2014 12:30 pm

Had the privilege of visiting the centurion lounge this weekend two times in the Las Vegas Airport location. I HIGHLY recommend the lounge. Some points
-Free full service bar (made my old fashioned and godfather cocktails very well)
-lots of comfortable seating (huge variety of chairs/couches/loungers)
-Great food (lots of fresh salads, sandwiches, pastas, and deserts.)
-espresso machine
-wide selection of organic teas
-very nice cutlery and plates/cups/glasses
-free for amex platinum/centurion card holders. $50 per person for other amex cardholders

Upon arriving, one is greeted by 2 front desk workers. They will ask to see your amex card, ID, and boarding pass. All of the staff from the front desk to the bar is very kind and treats you with much respect. The lounge is large and well lit, probably around 120 seats or so. Multiple TVs and a few computers/work spaces. The furniture is modern but very comfortable.

The bar was fantastic. Something that you would see in an upscale hotel. Wide selection and complimentary (hidden under the table) Johnny Walker Blue label for centurion guests. I enjoyed a drink at the bar, then made my way to one of the large leather lounge chairs. These chairs are large enough to lie down in...the area is kind of dark and facing away from the rest of the lounge, needless to say my two neighbors were sound asleep. After a short nap, and after eating lunch, it was off to my gate. Conveniently, the lounge is located in terminal 3 and Hawaiian Airlines uses terminal 3. If you fly in on Delta, southwest, suncountry, spirit, you will need to take the tram to terminal 3 from terminal 1.

Only gripe about the place was the small mens bathroom. One urinal and 2 stalls. I did like the selection of soap and lotion however, and they had one of those automatic shoe polish machines.

Overall, a fantastic lounge and I wish we had one here in Hawaii :(

Nice, I have been wanting to go to Vegas just for the lounge!
When I do get the chance to go..Most likely next year on September I want o upgrade to the Platinum Card that way I wont have to pay for the dam admission fee.

Did you take anyone else in with you?
So what if I don't have a boarding pass and just go and wait for someone who is on a flight?

I curious as to how one would get pass TSA without a boarding pass? Or perhaps the lounge is pre-TSA checkpoint?

I`ve had friends who have gone inside the airport.. haven't asked them how they do it- but i will ask them the next time I do talk to them..

San Francisco is getting a Centurion Lounge, i usually go pick up relatives or friends at that airport every now and then so yeah that will be a plus for me!

LAS and DFW lounges are in-security; LGA lounge is pre-security.

Didn't bring anyone into the lounge with me, but you are allowed two guests with a plat or cent. It is post-security like others have stated. Not sure if you can access the lounge without a boarding pass.

I shall get the card then, but not until next year.

I was reading that one can get in flight meals refunded with the $200 credit amex gives for flights?

Is it just me, or is a pre-TSA lounge a horrible idea?

How can anyone relax when they have no clear idea when they will need to leave the lounge?

The only way to enjoy it would be to get to the airport 5 hours before your flight - and why would anyone do that?

I suppose it could be nice if you have a long delay between flights - but who'd want to go through the TSA screen again?

Or is this where TSA prescreening/line skipping and the Platinum TSA fee waiver are somehow remarkably wonderful?
Love: IHG, Platinum, Sallie Mae, AA Plat, CSP
Like: Discover, ED, BCE, Hyatt, Arrival, Freedom
Might drop: BrooksBros, Prestige (Costco PC?)
Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

I actually once had a trip that stayed in Hong Kong for 12 hours night stay, where it could make sense to stay in non-restricted area lounges. At that evening I simply walked out of airport and went to downtown and went back in the morning. The returning trip was still 12 hours in HK, but that time I stayed inside restricted area.

For international flights stopping at 3rd country (i.e. country1-country3-country2) you may have to go through security again, but that is international. For domestic flights I doubt anyone wants as well.

Even if they skip TSA, they may still have to walk some distance to get to the gates. So maybe they can manage to get some in-airport vehicles?
