Well I pulled the trigger today. I called to PC my Platinum to a PRG. It was a simple brief process. I'll get no MR bonus and the first year isn't waived, both of which I proly could have gotten if I had applied externally. Keeping my same acct number and not having another HP was more important for me right now.

Since the account numbers will be the same my Platinum (card) will continue to work until I activate the new card. Henceforth I will no longer have the Platinum perks but I can still swipe and carry it for the time being.
Sapphire Reserve: travel & dining (almost everything until I meet my initial spend)
Blue Cash Preferred: groceries & gas
Freedom: 5% cats
Double Cash: everything else

It is good you were able to keep the account open. There are reports on here of people having to close an account to get rid of a Platinum, with Amex CSRs refusing to do a PC from Platinum to something with a lower AF.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

Well I finally made my weekly stop at my PO box today; in it were two items from Amex. My PRG card and my last issue of Departures. My Platinum is still working, I'll probably use it for another week or so then activate the PRG. My nine year run with a Platinum is in its twilight...

I've got one that's been inactive but the valid until date is still a few years away.

Try putting that card through a shredder LOL you can totally ruin one as it tries to mulch a titanium card.

I still don't get why people would post their cancelled/no longer valid Centurion cards on ebay.

1) who the hell buys those
2) The card has the original card members name and account number .

All that for a measly few dollars? Crazy

If the AF has posted, doesn't that mean the damage is done for the upcoming year? That is, to not pay the $450, you'd have to stiff Amex - which would be inconsistent with switching to another charge card...

I don't think they demand the card back (only for the Centurion?) so you could just keep it...as a powerless piece of plastic in your wallet...and tell people you prefer to use the PRG for the rewards. You'd have to hide it when at the airport, though.

I do like the idea of one card from each major network. For me, though, it will have to be at least one, rather than exactly one. Getting from 10 down to 4 might be a lot harder (and less practical) than you think.

The don't ask for the Cent card back....

Man... that's pretty desperate. What happens when the hot gal asks to see the card as he tries to impress her?

ROFL he can always say it's a placeholder for when the real one comes :)

The same type of people who used your stolen card just to buy fancy clothes. They're ghetto and want to look cool for everybody on Facebook, Instagram, etc.

If that's how you get women, you're doing it wrong. Unless you are buying hookers.
