So you're applying for a second charge card - not a change from the Green to the PRG? A complete second application?

If so, I think your odds are not good at getting the PRG. Amex generally doesn't like people to open the second account before the first has some history. Given that you had to call the recon line for the Green, I don't think you'll get any special consideration.

Edit: I hope you didn't make that decision partly on a misunderstanding of my advice from yesterday. You should have applied for the card you wanted and, if you were declined for that, tried to get a 'compromise' card from the same credit pull.

Given what you had done by that point, I suggested you should call and talk to a person and try to change the Green to a Gold before the account became activated or, failing that, to build up a history for a few months with the Green and then apply for the Gold - not to apply for a completely separate, second Amex 48 hours after the first one was approved on recon.

I would talk to a human being there soon, before the computer just assumes you're trying to open as much credit as you can get away with and are a high risk for even the Green.

Did they pull your credit once or twice, for applications 48 hours apart?
Very useful: SchwabPlat, CSP, IHG, Costco (was AA Plat), Freedom, SPG, Prestige (retention)
Somewhat useful: Discover, ED (was EDP), BCE, Hyatt
SD with activity alerts, might close: Arrival

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech, BofA Travel PH, Aviator Red

Congratulations! I have applied for Amex around eight times and hopefully they will except me by the end of the year.

Sorry if I confused things when I got edit-happy with my last post.

Applying for cards in unfavorable circumstances (one Amex 2 days after the first) is not the best way to get them off your mind.

Hopefully they won't freeze the first while they want to go over your finances.

They're clearly already excepting you. Odds aren't so good for being accepted if you're constantly applying all over the place but that's apparently already a dead horse.

I said congrats on MyFico but I'll just say it here again.

If you really want another charge card, just wait a few months and then try again. I waited two months after I got my first Amex revolver to get one, though maybe that's a YMMV thing with people. If you apply too quickly for a card like that and you didn't do it on the same day where they could have used the same HP, you're probably gonna get instantly denied.

I think it would also be best for you to take a break for a few months and look at the revolvers that Amex has to see if you'd like to have any of those.

And never mind! Congrats. Just saw your MyFico thread. Sorry for doubting you there.

At some point, and I don't know what that is, but at some point, it really won't matter anymore. What's one more inquiry added to dozens of others?

I hate to admit it, but I guess there really is some use for the garden.
