Do you think I would be approved for a Platinum Card?

Postby brettbennett » Thu Aug 07, 2014 12:39 am

I have had my own cards with American Express since 2008 and have been an authorized user on one since 2000. Now, I have a Business Gold Card and a Personal Gold Card. I was thinking about upgrading the personal card to a Personal Platinum Card. I have a FICO of 790.

My Questions:

1. Do you think I would get approved?

2. Would an upgrade be a soft pull or a hard pull?

We can't tell you if you will get accepted. You do seem to have pretty good odds at it though. If you want to find out, apply. Worst case scenario, you get denied and its only a soft pull. If you get accepted, it'll be a hard pull.

i was going to say the something as Onion, i have a platinum and crazy thing amex sent me a invite for the preferred rewards gold card so now i have both so i would assume your chances are good either way as long as your credit has taken some huge hit.

I would guess your chances are pretty good. It's a prestigious card but my understanding is that nabbing a charge card from amex is easier than many of their credit cards

With the cards in your list looks like you are well on your way to an Amex soon.

I'm sure if you give it enough time, Amex will be yours! Nice cards BTW.
