EQ Showing CL as Highest Balance

Postby EW800 » Wed Jul 02, 2014 6:44 pm

In the last few weeks, Amex was kind enough to provide me with a CLI from $6100 to $9500. The CL increase is showing correctly on TU and EXP, however on my EQ report, my CL is now showing as $0 and my Highest Balance is showing the $9500 (It should be $2554, which is what TU and EXP show and is the correct figure). When my CL was $6100, EQ did in fact show that has my CL. It appears that somehow the CL of $9500 made it on the wrong line.

I called Amex Credit Reporting Department and they basically were not help - saying that they reported it correctly and that it is EQ's error. I finally got a live person at EQ and he just stated that they report what the creditors report. So, they are pointing fingers at each other.

Any advice on how I can get this corrected? Although my UTIL is very low, I doubt that this CL showing as $0 is helping any.

Thank you!!

That sounds weird I ASSUME (correct me if I'm wrong) that because you have a hard limit and got a CLI that you have a revolver. Mine shows up on my EQ with the limit correct. I'm guessing that EQ screwed this up and the guy you got just blew you off to get rid of you as part of providing spectacular customer "service".

I would call back and point out that you've had other Amex revolvers that correctly showed your limit and that your limit is not 0 dollars you have an actual limit and ask them to report it correctly. Remind him if he balks that the law requires that your credit information be reported correctly and that this is in error and potentially harms you. If they still take the easy/lazy way out and blow you off, contact the CFPB and file a formal complaint.
