Amex Gold Delta Approved $2K

Postby popamode72 » Tue Jun 10, 2014 9:19 am

9 months of credit history and instant approval. Low utilization across the board and less than 10% at that. Started out with a Citi Forward Card for college students and went from there. Despite having a lot of inquiries and open accounts, I was very happy when I saw that I got instant approval on this card. Definitely hoping to consider other Amex cards in the future, particularly either the Amex Everyday or Blue Cash cards without the annual fee.

Also I hope that in six months, I'll be able to try getting a Chase Freedom card. I want it so badly and I think it would be a great way to get even more rewards on my purchases, especially for gas and stuff like that and if not, perhaps something will come out of the account review that Citi will do in September.

Been lurking this forum for a while and really like the information that I've learned here. I also have been posting on myFico for a while. Hope that's not a bad thing in any way. I was almost gonna hold off applying for this card and waiting three more months because they said that Amex likes a whole year of credit history like for the green card but I guess not in my case.

Congratulations on your approval. All that I've read suggests the Delta Gold is the easiest Amex to get. I think they like to see a minimum of 6 months good use reporting. Same with Freedom - I was told by a Chase analyst they like to see 6 months minimum for the Freedom as well.

And no it's not a bad thing to post here and FICO if you want. Just be careful what you post there as they get offended a LOT more easily and it's not that hard to find yourself on the bad side of a mod who bans you. But it really depends on who you are - I've seen some people just savage others they thought were stupid and they get away with it. It's kinda like the cards - YMMV. Otherwise, nothing wrong with using multiple forums just make sure you watch yourself a little more closely over there.

Thanks! I've started to think that gardening as they call it just depends on the situation and context and that good payment history, utilization and all of those other factors are really really important as well. Definitely still need a break from applying though until then. Really want to get this Forward card changed to something else since they discontinued the card not too long ago and I think the rewards aren't that great compared to some of the cards I have now.
