Holy crap I almost can't believe this

Postby MemberSince99 » Wed Jun 04, 2014 12:31 pm

It was past my 61 day CLI request with Amex today on the EDP. I wasn't even going to bother with it as I figured it's a lost cause.

But I thought well if I don't at least give it a chance I will never know 100% for sure. Yes I think my odds of success are roughly the same as winning the lottery without buying a ticket, or asking a supermodel out and hearing "yes", but you can't be 100% sure until you try.

So I went to the Amex site to pay my bill and while I was there, I thought ok let me at least give them the shot to turn me down. If I don't, I have nothing to complain about (which would please some here I'm sure!).

I filled out the info, and almost didn't click submit. I expected it to come back in 30 seconds with the notice that they needed time to make a decision (to decline me of course) just like it had every time before. Instead, it came back almost immediately with "success" I was like what the hell I've got to be delusional and just imagining this. But I checked the limit on the card and it now says 6k.

It does seem eventually it's possible to get back somewhat into their good graces. Of course it's always YMMV but I've had my Gold card with them since May of last year. I read of one guy on FICO who was in the same situation and he mentioned after either 6 months or a year he finally got a CLI on his revolver as well.

Just wanted to share the news. Hope everyone here is doing well.

What was your starting limit? I had a friend who applied this week and only got a limit of $1000 on the Everyday.

Starting limit was 2k. So I went for the 3X and got that (6k).

Since his starting limit is 1k he would want to go for 3k.

Also my boss tells me I'll need to fly at least a couple of times this year for work. So I was thinking in that case I could upgrade the Gold to PRG and get triple points that way. Since I got the Gold 13 months ago I went for it on their site and it was approved.

I have had my BCE for over a year and still won't allow a CLI. Kinda annoying but don't use it much. Use the CSP the most.

Not quite - that would be if I got an auto CLI from Discover. But pretty close indeed.

Member- I just wanted to tell you that last week I got an Auto CL from Discover for 500$ completely unexpectedly (I didn't really think they were ever going to give me one) but I'm happy with it nonetheless. But good job tho. I really want a CLI but I have a little bit too much debt for Amex's liking to try for a CLI right now.

the saga continues so I get a letter in the mail the day after my wife get's her SPG card and it says because I had a card canceled by Amex in the past, a nice way of saying in a bankruptcy that they won't issue me a card, even as an authorized user . I call up and go to a main operator and not new accounts and they say that they will have a SPG card sent to me overnight sorry for the confusion this was Tues. I call today when I don't have my card and they tell me a card is not being sent because I have a canceled card by them. I tell them I have had a card for 5 years and have spent over 150k with no late payments or interest. He says I must have a corporate card and I go oh yeah and hang up the phone. I wonder how the hell I have a blue cash +with a 34k limit and it came from a solicitation from them in 2008 on the amex website it says I'm preapproved for a gold and green card and a few months ago I had a platinum pre approval. Has anybody else had this experience or know anybody that has???

this was from a post from last summer

Today I saw the new spg offer for 30k points and figured if I don't get approved no hard pull after a long 30 secs of wait after app says your approved for the SPG card they lowered my cash + and gave me a total credit limit on both cards of $45,300 my limit on the blue cash has been 34k, there is hope you just need to use there cards responsibly now I will have two credit cards with a since date of 1989 on my credit report you think that will offset my hard pull and I'm using my wife's points on her spg next month for dolphin hotel at disney so figure I'll sock another 30k away for a rainy day!

cheers to us both membersince99
